Tammy Diane
Carlisle Bynum
June 23, 1961 – December 25, 2025
Tammy Diane Carlisle Bynum, age 64, of Soso, Mississippi went to be with her Lord on December 25, 2025 at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, Mississippi after a courageous five- year battle with cancer. She was born on June 23, 1961 in Laurel, Mississippi to Milton and Maurine Carlise, who preceded her in death. She truly never met a stranger, and her warmth, kindness, and humor made her someone that people naturally gravitated toward.
Tammy was the beloved wife of Jeffrey Bynum, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to her son, Ross Bynum (Kris Adams), and held Adah, Enver, and Emeth Adams closely in her heart. Tammy is also survived by her sisters, Janice Walker (Bob), and Clara Bynum (Marshall); her mother-in-law, Kay Bynum; her brothers-in-law, Nathan Bynum (Teresa) and Casey Bynum (Angie); and sister-in-law, Amy Bynum Morris; She leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and great -nieces and great- nephews, as well as a "brother" that she chose, David Valentine.
A graduate of West Jones High School, Class of 1979, Tammy dedicated 28 years of service to Hattiesburg Clinic Dermatology, where she formed lasting friendships and was deeply loved by coworkers and patients alike.
Tammy was a member of First Baptist Church, Soso, and the Joy Sunday School Class. She took great joy in teaching and encouraging children, and they, in turn, encouraged her during her lengthy illness. Cherished by Tammy among these children was Jack Weeks, whose cards, art, and visits brightened her days. The church family and treasured friendships made there meant the world to her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Soso, Children's Ministry or Youth Ministry in Tammy's memory.
Pallbearers will be Alex Bynum, Cale Bynum, Evan Bynum, Brock Morris, Kade Morris, Noah Wieniewitz, and Lane Wieniewitz. Honorary Pallbearers will be Justin Bynum and David Valentine.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Forrest General Home Care & Hospice and the Asbury Hospice House for their care and support.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 12:30PM until 2:00PM at First Baptist Church Soso in Soso, MS. Funeral services will follow at 2:00PM at the same location, with burial in Union Line Cemetery in Soso, Mississippi. Bro. P.J. Weeks will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements.
