Willis “Tommy” Everett, 83, of Laurel, MS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS after a short but hard fought battle with cancer. He was born on July 22, 1943 in Laurel, MS.

Tommy was a hardworking man who spent many years behind the wheel as a truck driver before retiring at 57. He took great pride in his work, but his greatest joy was always his family. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly and cherished every moment he was able to spend with them. He was a devoted husband and father whose love, wisdom, kindness, and gentle spirit will remain in the hearts of his family forever.

He also loved his church and his faith was an important part of his life. He especially enjoyed singing at festivals, nursing homes, and other gatherings. His voice brought happiness to those who heard him, and he loved sharing his gift of music with others.

When he wasn't working, spending time with family, or serving through his church, you could often find him fishing, hunting and just being outside. Another one of his favorite pastimes was playing golf. He enjoyed the game, the fellowship, and the friendships that came with it.

He was blessed with many friends throughout his life, and those who knew him will remember his warm heart, kind smile, gentle and generous nature and the way he made people feel loved and welcomed. He never met a stranger and leaves behind countless people who were blessed to call him friend.

His family takes comfort in knowing that his life was filled with love, faith, family, friendship, and music. Though his earthly journey has come to an end, his memory will live on through the many lives he touched.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his family, friends, church family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Until we meet again, Daddy. We love you more than words can say.

Willis is survived by his wife of 60 years Marion Gay Everett; Sister, Patricia Walker; Daughters, Connie Everett, Gaye Everett Matthews (Justin); Grandchildren, Zachary Everett Risinger, Abbey Matthews Strain (Austin), Davis Everett Matthews; Great Grandchildren, Charlotte “Charlie” Katherine Strain, Max Avery Strain.

Willis is preceded in death by his mother; Blondia Ione Everett, father; Willis Earl Everett; Sisters, Nell Wooten, Judy Miller; Brother, Larry Everett.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Lebanon Baptist Church of Laurel, Mississippi, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM at the same location, with burial at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Ken Riley and Bro. Harold Floyd and Bro. Leon Carmical will officiate. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Justin Matthews, Zachary Risinger, Davis Matthews, Austin Strain, Tim Parker, William Walker

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Pope, Ricky Bynum, Randy Welborn, Phil Zumwalt, Rueben Bryant, Marshall Bynum, Jeffrey McDonnieal, Greg Hill, Clint Lowery, Keith Loftin.
