Uriel Samuel Grant, Jr., aged 79, of Laurel, MS, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, at his residence. Born on January 19, 1945, in Laurel, Mississippi, Sammy was a dedicated employee of Baker-Atlas for 39 years and a devoted member of Harmony Baptist Church, where he contributed to maintenance efforts. A proud veteran, he served in the US Army.

He is survived by his son, Shane Grant and wife Myra, along with three grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brothers, Chuck Walker and wife Jewel, and Willis Walker; sisters, Janis Nicholson and Phyllis Fishback and husband Rick; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends Charlene and Harvey.

Sammy was preceded in death by his father, Uriel Grant; mother, Jean Dees Walker; and brother, Jeffery Grant; sister, Lisa Walker.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Indian Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Laurel, MS, with burial to follow. The services will be officiated by Jamie Altman, with arrangements handled by Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
