Obituary

Vaughn Dale Strickland, 86, of Soso, Mississippi, died Monday, November 5th, 2018 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi. He was born Friday, January 22, 1932 in Sylvarena, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel in Laurel, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Big Creek Baptist Church and the Burial will follow in Big Creek Cemetery. Bro. Justin Rhodes will officiate. Music by Allison Penny and Kristen McLaurin. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. (601) 649-3342

Vaughn Dale was dearly loved by his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and was known for his infamous whistling. As a boy he gained a strong work ethic from his parents and went to school in Sylvarena, MS. When the Korean War started, he enlisted with a close friend. When he came home, he drove an 18 wheeler for a year. Later he worked 41 years for Morrison Furniture as manager, which became Williams Furniture. He retired and soon went back to work for O'Reilly Auto Parts.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Jean Cargile, Eddie Vaughn Strickland (Father), Ima Strickland (Mother), Robert Strickland (Son), Dois Dykes (Sister), Rachel Craft (Sister), Billie Annis (Sister), Eloise Strickland (Sister).

Survivors include Edith Jefcoat Strickland (Wife), Nancy McLaurin (Mike) (Daughter), Stephanie Sims (Daughter), Amy Graves (Steve) (Daughter), Grady Sims (Son-in-law), Robert Adam Strickland (Grandson), Erin Enochs (Levi) (Granddaughter), Jasmine Sims (Granddaughter), Allison Penny (Scott) (Granddaughter), Kristen McLaurin (Granddaughter), Logan East (Grandson), Parker Jefcoat (Grandson), Blake East (Lauren) (Grandson), Brandon Graves (Allison) (Grandson), Abigail McCaffrey (Great-granddaughter), Emery Kate Enochs (Great-granddaughter), Robert Miles Enochs (Great-grandson), Lily Penny (Great-granddaughter), Corbin Penny (Great-grandson), Nora Kate Buda (Great-granddaughter), Maggie Jane Buda (Great-granddaughter), Henley Graham (Great-grandson), Kellin East (Great-grandson), Ava Graves (Great-granddaughter), Dean Thornton (Sister), Trevor Moffett (Special Grandson), Sarah Moffett (Special Granddaughter), Jeffrey Moffett (Jennifer) (Special Grandson), Lauren Nicholson (Clint) (Special Granddaughter), Jennifer Ishee (Chris) (Special Granddaughter), Evelyn Moffett (Mark) (Sister-in-law), Diane Flowers (Robert) (Niece), Eddie Dykes (Robin) (Nephew), Linda Day (Ken) (Niece), Pam Pates (Niece), Pam Waldrup (Charles) (Niece), Carolyn Hendry (Jimmy) (Niece), Karen Dykes (Niece), Ronnie Joe Keyes (Nephew).
