Vaughn Dale Strickland, 86, of Soso, Mississippi, died Monday, November 5th, 2018 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi. He was born Friday, January 22, 1932 in Sylvarena, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel in Laurel, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Big Creek Baptist Church and the Burial will follow in Big Creek Cemetery. Bro. Justin Rhodes will officiate. Vaughn Dale was dearly loved by his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and was known for his infamous whistling. As a boy he gained a strong work ethic from his parents and went to school in Sylvarena, MS. When the Korean War started, he enlisted with a close friend. When he came home, he drove an 18 wheeler for a year. Later he worked 41 years for Morrison Furniture as manager, which became Williams Furniture. He retired and soon went back to work for O'Reilly Auto Parts.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Jean Cargile, Eddie Vaughn Strickland (Father), Ima Strickland (Mother), Robert Strickland (Son), Dois Dykes (Sister), Rachel Craft (Sister), Billie Annis (Sister), Eloise Strickland (Sister).
