Verne Thomas (Tommy) Doggett, 79, of Laurel, Mississippi, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on March 14, 1946, in Laurel, Mississippi, Tommy lived a life full of love and dedication to his family and community.
He is survived by his beloved wife, June Stewart Doggett; his sons, Stuart Doggett and his wife Donna, and Craig Doggett and his wife Sharon. Tommy was a proud grandfather to Tyler Doggett and his wife Allison, Blake Doggett and his wife Nikki, Brody Doggett and his wife Lauryn, Lance Doggett and his wife Sydney, and Brad Hearn and his wife Kayley. He also leaves behind his sister, Libby Welch and her husband Paul, as well as his cherished great-grandchildren, Archer Doggett, Breckyn Hearn, Bristol Hearn, and Bree Kollyns Hearn, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Otis Doggett, his mother, Irma Williams Reeves, and his brother, Donald Doggett.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, with visitation from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Mt. Vernon Church, located at 839 Highway 15 South, Mississippi. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the same location, with burial at Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery in Laurel, Mississippi. Bro. Davy Fenton and Bro. Alan Stroud will officiate the services, and arrangements are being handled by Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.
Pallbearers will include Tyler Doggett, Blake Doggett, Brody Doggett, Lance Doggett, Isaac Herrington, and Nick Welch. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Coon Lane Hunting Club.
Tommy will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his community, and his passion for the outdoors. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
