Virginia Lois Wedgeworth, age 87, of SoSo, MS, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the Care Center of Laurel. Born on January 31, 1938, in Laurel, Mississippi, Virginia lived a life full of love and dedication to her family. She also loved to work outside especially when it involved working with her flowers.

She is survived by her son, Albert B. 'Jamie' Wedgeworth and his wife Deborah; her grandchildren, April Covington, Chris Covington, Heather Laird and her husband Cody, and Sarah Walters and her husband Charlie. Virginia was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren. Her surviving brothers include Louis R. Cooley, James K Cooley, Freddie C. Cooley, and Phillip M. Cooley.

Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Wedgeworth, her daughter, Virginia Ann Covington, her parents, Benton and Mary Rowell Cooley, her brothers, Curtis O. Cooley, William Abner Cooley, Thomas E. Cooley, and her sister, Mildred Creel.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, located at 4593 Indian Springs Rd, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the same location, with Bro. Troy Rayner officiating.

Burial will follow in Union Line Cemetery in Soso, Mississippi. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.

Pallbearers will be Cody Laird, Charlie Walters, Eric Cooley, Wayne Spradley, Bo King, and Jacob Walters.
