William "Bill" Roy
Jones II
May 1, 1968 — Oct 4, 2026
Laurel
William “Bill” Roy Jones II, age 58, of Laurel, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026.
He was born on May 1, 1968, to Sheila Crosby and Roy LaBruce Jones. Bill was a Jones County native who proudly served in the military. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend.
He was a man who loved his family deeply, and there was nothing more important to him than the people he called his own. He especially cherished his daughters and grandchildren and took great pride in watching them grow. Bill was also the person many people knew as their “411.” If you needed to know who to call, where to find something, who could help you, or simply needed information, Bill was the person to ask. He seemed to know the answer to just about anything—or, if he didn’t, he knew exactly who did. He was the kind of person people could count on when they needed help. Bill had a deep love for football, especially his beloved Tennessee Volunteers. He could tell you who was the best of the best at any position and could probably tell you their stats to go right along with it. Whether you wanted to hear it or not, Bill could give you the history, the numbers, and his opinion on who belonged at the top. Football was something he truly loved, and those conversations will be deeply missed.
Bill found joy in the simple things in life. He loved hunting, being outdoors, and spending time surrounded by his family. He also had a special love for animals, and anyone who knew him knew just how much they meant to him. Among them, Gizmo held a particularly special place in his heart and was more than just a pet—Gizmo was family. His love for his animals was another reflection of the gentle and caring heart he carried with him.
Bill leaves behind a family who will carry his memory and love with them always. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie Jones; his daughters, Heather Ray (Jeremy), Courtney Taylor, Brittany Taylor, and Ivy Maslanka (Cameron); his grandchildren, Addison Ray, Miley Ray, and Carter Maslanka; and his great-grandchild, Avery Bond. He is also survived by his sisters, Deanne (Mark) Ishee and Staci (David) Ethridge; aunts Weaton Middleton and Gowona Crosby; uncles, Robert Jones “Bob” and Joseph Crosby Jr.; nieces, Tasha Riley, Tiffany Knight (Terry), and Ashley Ishee; nephews, Scott Ethridge (Morgan) and Kyle Ishee (Monica), along with a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Sheila and Roy; his sister, Nannette Jones; grandparents, Alberta Jones, William Roy Jones, Doris Crosby, and Joseph Crosby; and his cousin, David Smith.
Bill’s life was defined not only by the years he lived, but by the love he gave. His family will forever cherish the memories, lessons, laughter, and love he left behind. His grandchildren will grow up hearing stories about their Pepaw, and his daughters will carry his love with them for the rest of their lives. Though his time here was not long enough, the impact he made on his family will last forever.
Visitation and funeral arrangements will be held at Colonial Chapel Laurel on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2:00pm and burial at Lake Park Hills Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Ray, Cameron Maslanka, Brayden Davis, Trent Pitts, and Jimmy Hillburn. Honorary Pallbearers are David Ethridge, Scott Ethridge, Terry Knight and Mark Ishee.
There will never be another Bill. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
